Give me some English......
Rather into English Country decor these days. Quite a 180 from my typical yen for zen interiors. However, I've always loved tartan and tweed and I happened upon the Duchess of Devonshire's memoirs, "Wait for me!" at the bookstore and as a direct result seem to have picked up
an obsession with all things British.
Dressed in Barbour with a Floris scent on my wrists.......
and at the end of the day:
Sweet dreams.

A list for living simply from the Tao Te Ching via Miss Minimalist
1. “In dwelling, live close to the ground. In thinking, keep to the simple.”
2. “If you want to become full, let yourself be empty.”
3. “If you want to be given everything, give everything up.”
4. “If you realize that you have enough, you are truly rich.”
5. “When there is no desire, all things are at peace.”
6. “Be content with what you have; rejoice in the way things are.
When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.”
7. “In the pursuit of knowledge, every day something is added.
In the practice of the Tao, every day something is dropped.”
8. “The Master’s power is like this.
He lets all things come and go effortlessly, without desire.
He never expects results; thus he is never disappointed.
He is never disappointed; thus his spirit never grows old.”
9. “I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion.
These three are your greatest treasures.”
10. “The Master has no possessions.
The more he does for others, the happier he is.
The more he gives to others, the wealthier he is.”
Thank you ''miss minimalist''(for the posting),Stephen Mitchell (for the translation) and the Tao Te Ching, (for the timeless and timely wisdom).

Another creed for me.....
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable; and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly ... to listen to stars and buds, to babes and sages, with open heart; await occasions, hurry never ... this is my symphony. --William Henry Channing

How to dress well as a woman over 50 (or under 50).......
Images from the latest issue of American Vogue. Tonne Goodman fashion editor. As you know, Tonne's real life style is clean, grown up and just great, as is this editorial. You will not go wrong using this spread as a basis for a terrific Fall Wardrobe 2010....one that will carry you through for years. Look at Kristin M's long gray hair----what a fabulous accessory---makes me wish my hair would gray faster (and be long and beautiful etc). Bravo Anna Wintour and Tonne Goodman for putting a gorgeous "older" model in this inspirational fashion shoot...and.....Viva Vogue!
